3-D embroidery foam is
used to add dimension to the design. It is made of EVA (Ethylene
Vinyl Acetate), which is non-toxic
and can be machine-washed or dry cleaned. It is available in
2 mm and 3 mm thickness, in colors black, white and red.
How does the embroidery foam work?
A layer of foam is placed
on top of the fabric to be embroidered. In the process of stitching
the design, the needle perforates the
foam. When the design is complete the excess foam is removed
leaving a raised three-dimensional design. It is necessary to
increase the density of the design to completely cover the
foam. Try using
a blow dryer on finished embroidery to eliminate the showing
foam.
